Held at Vancouver’s Best Western Plus Chateau Granville, the theme for the 2014 Winter Ashton Achievement Awards was Winter Wonderland.
Ashton staff members generously volunteered their time to ensure the day was as special as it should be for our graduates.
The afternoon’s emcees were Immigration Consulting instructor Nevena Djuricic (pictured) and Business instructor Bart Zych.
Ashton College was honored to welcome MLA Mable Elmore as our Keynote Speaker. Miss Elmore has represented the Vancouver-Kensington riding since 2009, when she made history by becoming the first MLA of Filipino descent. Miss Elmore's speech focused on the importance of believing in yourself and working hard to achieve your educational, career and personal goals.
Based on faculty evaluations completed by students, the Faculty Award was presented to Immigration Consulting instructor Shawn Bowden. Students agreed that Mr. Bowden demonstrates a sense of leadership within the school community and exhibits a positive and professional attitude.
From left: Mildred Fernando, Efren Aribal Velos, Bart Zych and Mable Elmore. Mrs. Fernando and Mr. Velos were the co-recipients of the Perseverance Award. The award is presented to a student who has overcome obstacles and made extraordinary sacrifices in order to achieve their academic goals. In a happy coincidence, Efren and Mildred each nominated the other for the award. Congratulations to all the award winners!
Instructor Bart Zych congratulates former student, Marcus Moser Loos. Marcus recently secured a position in a prestigious management training program with one of the largest telecommunications firms in Brazil.
Graduates had the opportunity to pose in an Ashton cap and gown throughout the ceremony.
Our students receive an exceptional education and form lasting friendships.
Congratulations once again to all of our graduates, we wish you the best as you move on to the next chapter of your lives.
