QuickBooks is the most commonly used small-business accounting and financial management software in North America.
QuickBooks features an open platform design that allows third parties to create small business applications and gives customers the ability to customize the online version of QuickBooks to meet their specific business needs. QuickBooks Online can also be accessed from mobile devices by up to five unique users.
QuickBooks is full featured, easy to use and well-supported by Intuit. It is an effective way for small businesses, accountants, freelancers and entrepreneurs to organize their finances and bookkeeping all in one place.
Different versions of QuickBooks are available for Windows and for Mac, and QuickBooks Online is available as a web-based version of QuickBooks. Intuit has integrated several web-based features into QuickBooks, including remote access capabilities, remote payroll assistance and outsourcing, electronic payment functions, online banking and reconciliation, mapping features through integration with Google Maps, marketing options through Google, and improved e-mail functionality.
QuickBooks was designed to be as user-friendly as possible. QuickBooks software offers a variety of customizable features and add-ons, with price points as low as $9.99/month. No previous accounting experience is necessary to use QuickBooks.
With over 4.5 million users, QuickBooks holds 85% of the market share in small business accounting software. The better users understand QuickBooks, the more it can do for them. To that end, Ashton College currently offers a Computerized Bookkeeping QuickBooks Certificate. This 20-hour course is an introduction to QuickBooks that provides hands-on instruction to prepare attendees to use QuickBooks as a business tool by familiarizing them with the features available in QuickBooks Online (2013 version) and Desktop.
