Published On: February 26, 2015The Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) is the first all-Canadian elder educational designation program in Canada which was designed by Canadians, for Canadians. The Canadian Initiative for Elder Planning Studies (CIEPS), believes that
“working with the maturing client involves a total needs approach, and that these needs evolve from an individual's early wage-earning years and continue to change as the individual moves through the aging process.”
The comprehensive modules which make up the EPC program curriculum are designed to enrich the knowledge and understanding of professionals working with the 50+ age group through education on the evolving and specialized needs of Canada’s citizens as they age.
Canada’s population is aging. According to the Government of Canada, approximately 15% of the national population is now 65 years of age or older. Canada’s elders represent a specialized market with specialized needs and concerns. The EPC program is intended to enrich the knowledge and understanding of professionals on topics focusing on the evolving and specialized needs of Canada’s citizens as they age including: aging and health issues, legacy planning, retirement income basics, and elder fraud and abuse.

The EPC Designation program was not only the first, but is the fastest growing designation program in Canada with over thousands of graduates. It is recognized and accepted by all Financial Services Regulatory bodies and numerous Associations across Canada. EPC members are listed on the CIEPS public website.

Ashton College's EPC curriculum is a comprehensive education program designed to recognize these needs and provide you with the essential knowledge and tools that are necessary to effectively develop a proper rapport and design practical solutions.
