Many employees across a broad range of industries transitioned to working from home for the first time this year. But what about working abroad from a picturesque beach in Mexico? That dream is a reality for one of the graduates of our Human Resources Management Diploma program: Gertrud Kertesz. Our communications team recently connected with Gertrud to chat about her experiences in the program and how her career has progressed over the last couple of years. She also shares some of her core values around human resources and offers words of wisdom for anyone who is considering taking the program but is perhaps unsure of themselves.
We last spoke with Gertrud during our Made at Ashton alumni interview series in 2018. Since that time, her career has progressed in surprising and exciting ways, taking her from an office in Vancouver all the way to a cafe in Mexico. Check out her more recent alumni interview to learn the full story, and try not to be too jealous of her home office set up.
Gertrud Kertesz currently works as an HR Business Partner at Ready Mode, previously called Xencall. The company works in call centre software development and telecommunications, call centre administration, training and management consultation. In her role, she advocates for work-life balance through flexible schedules, work from home opportunities and mental health days for the workforce. Many of her organizational improvements over the years helped secure the company a Ready to Rocket award in the Information and Telecommunications sector for two years in a row. She is also the founder of Prafind, an online marketplace that connects licenced health and wellness practitioners who want a mobile practice with people who want on-location services.
