The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) has, as one of its objectives, the protection of Canadian society from persons who pose a danger to that society, who engage in activities that violate international human rights, who might impose a heavy burden on the country’s social services, who have failed to comply with immigration law or who have provided false information to immigration authorities.
Any of the above persons are inadmissible as temporary or permanent residents unless they obtain an exemption to overcome their inadmissibility. This course covers inadmissibility categories in great detail affording the student an opportunity to become very proficient in this area of Canadian Immigration Law. Emphasis is placed on both the applicable legislation and the case law.

Although there are no formal admission requirements for this course, due to the advanced nature of the material covered, it is presumed that attendees have a basic knowledge of Canadian Immigration Law in general and this topic in particular.

Live Online Students
Ashton College uses web conferencing tools for conducting online classes and online learning management systems for managing resources, assignments, and grades. These tools help instructors and students connect live online as well as asynchronously. The basic requirements for online learning include a computer, webcam, speakers, and a microphone or a headset and headphones, along with a reliable internet connection. Though online learning can be pursued using smartphones and tablets, the use of laptops or desktop computers is encouraged for an enhanced learning experience.
