Our team recently had a chance to connect with alumna Barbara Quast, who graduated from our Education Assistant Diploma Program. Read on to find out what she has to say about stepping outside of her comfort zone and getting to work with lots of different children during her practicum.
Did you have any favourite instructors or memorable learning experiences during your time in the Education Assistant Diploma program?
Suzanne Adams was an amazing instructor. She is encouraging and supportive. No one is left behind.
What were some things that challenged you in the program?
The online learning pushed me out of my comfort zone, especially the live video presentations.
Was there anything that surprised you about the learning experience?
There was a lot of information to process and it was very in-depth. I was surprised with the amount of information and knowledge that I received.
How was your practicum experience?
It was great, I got to interact with lots of different children.
How was your career progressed since your time with Ashton College?
I am now guaranteed permanent employment with my education from Ashton College.
Did taking the program help to improve your confidence in the workforce?
Yes, I feel like I am more well prepared to deal with the variety of different students that I will encounter.
Do you have any favourite books that you are reading right now?
Broken In The Best Possible Way by Jenny Lawson.
What advice would you offer to someone who is considering studying at Ashton College?
I would tell someone who is considering studying at Ashton College that it is a very good place to get well educated and learn everything you need to know to pursue your career, whichever career you choose.
