Sanjay Bhatia is a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than 15 years of international experience working in the fields of bookkeeping, accounting, taxation in the United States, India and Canada. He is passionate about developing technical and professional skills of students demanded by employers in today’s highly competitive industry. He believes in sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge by imparting result-oriented education to future professionals.
Sanjay has been teaching computerized accounting to students and he has taught various classes on accounting software, such as Sage 50. He is QuickBooks Desktop Certified and has also acquired certification in Sage Accounting. Sanjay worked at H&R Block for a few tax seasons and worked as an instructor imparting education and preparing future tax professionals to work during tax season.
Currently, Sanjay is working for a construction company handling the day to day office work and accounting for all its group companies and joint ventures. He also works part-time for a public accounting firm working on various projects ranging from bookkeeping to preparing taxes for corporations and individual taxation.

Cynthia Ellacott, is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) who has worked to enhance both large and small business by reviewing processes and making recommendations for changes. She has been working in the accounting field since she was a teenager in her family business. She started doing ledger accounting when she was thirteen before the start of accounting programs. She received her accounting designation in 2000.
Cynthia had worked in many organizations from construction companies owned by her family, to real estate companies (Intrawest Blackcomb), private schools and medical clinics. Currently, Cynthia is working as a Public Accountant, supporting charities and startup companies, and doing personal and corporate taxes.

Zahra comes to Ashton with over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance. Having worked in different capacities in public practice, private, public and not-for-profit organizations, her experience spans over diverse industries such as aviation, transportation, construction, and telecommunications. As an educator, she has experience in facilitating CPA modules, in-class workshops and teaching CPA candidates. Heather Stahl is a Certified Public Accountant in Alberta. Her educational adventure began with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta. Following several years in the oil and gas industry, she pursued her passion for numbers with an accounting certification with CGA Alberta. She has worked in a variety of sectors such as agriculture, government and public practice. As a tax specialist in public practice, she advised on complex corporate reorganizations. While completing her Master’s in Business Administration, Heather was inspired to teach others. She has a passion for helping others and ensuring their success.

Emad Tawadrous is a CMA Accountant who was working as a taxation lecturer assistant for two years and an accounting instructor for the past five years. He teaches accounting fundamentals, financial reporting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, payroll, computerized accounting with Sage and QuickBooks, management information systems, business math, and corporate and personal taxation. Previously, he studied taxation at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University and has a bachelor’s degree in Professional Accounting, Accounting Sciences and Management Accounting from Alexandria University. He later obtained his master’s degree in Cost and Managerial Accounting (CMA) from the High Institute of Accounting Studies at Alexandria University. Charlyn worked with a team of Board Certified Psychologists completing forensic psychological assessments for mental health, school functioning, job suitability, crisis assessment and legal proceedings, among others. She has also worked as a Child Protection Caseworker, Youth Counsellor, Behaviour Interventionist, Crisis Intervention Worker, Child and Youth Care Instructor, Faculty Facilitator for Child, Family & Community studies and as a Campus Director. Charlyn has always had a firm commitment to education and sees it as the catalyst for positive change. As such, she saw working in adult education as a way to further her reach into creating positive community change by training the next generation of community support staff. She prides herself on connecting theoretical frameworks to concrete job-related examples, and finding creative and engaging ways to enhance learning. Charlyn enjoys tackling challenges with dynamism, positivity and insight regardless of their nature, while working collaboratively and with purpose. Nicolaos has been involved in the home inspection industry for the past decade. Both as an instructor at vocational schools and as a building inspector for residential and municipal buildings. He has also been a licensed contractor and indoor environmental practitioner in Laval, Quebec.
Nicolaos has a specialized BA in Human Environment, a degree that focuses on how geography influences human behaviour and examines the impact of human activity on the environment. This gives him a unique view of construction as he looks at it through a lens of providing creative solutions towards climate change, biodiversity loss, natural resource management and sustainability. Mark Heartt is a Red Seal Carpenter and entrepreneur that has owned and operated a successful construction company for more than 16 years. He has spent the last 16 years in post-secondary coming up through the ranks, starting as an instructor of carpentry and moving up to a Program Chair, Associate Dean and then the Dean of Trades for two post-secondary institutions. Mark also currently holds a Diploma in Adult Education as well as many certificates in leadership.
Outside of teaching, Mark enjoys curling, riding quads, and woodworking. He's also a coach for Special Olympics curling.

For over ten years, Su-Yan worked for a large crown corporation where she served as the Manager for Learning & Development. Her most recent position took her to Alberta, where she held a Senior HR Advisor role within a municipal government organization.
Based in Toronto, Su-Yan is currently managing her own HR consulting firm (NAYUS Consulting Group) where she is working with small business owners in the Caribbean, assisting them with their human resources and talent management needs.

Patricia Ward began her journey into social services at 12 years old after volunteering one summer at a local institution with children that had disabilities. Her education includes a Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work, and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. For over 30 years, Patricia has worked in a variety of social service positions. She started in the disability field and has worked in education, residential and day services, childcare, and clinical case management. After leaving the disability field, she worked in child protection and mental health. She currently works as a career counsellor with single parents on social assistance.
Patricia has been a college instructor at a private vocational college for over five years and enjoyed it so much that she started working towards her certificate in adult learning. Patricia is starting her own business as a Transformational Trauma-Informed coach helping clients heal through career changes and travel experiences. Teaching has been a natural progression from my passion for helping people reach their potential. In 2001, I began working in the private post-secondary arena, developing programs and instructing students. My career has been centered in the field of special needs. My roles in this field have provided me with experience and insight into the BC school system and the needs of students. Betsy Bruyere returned to school as an adult student and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Master’s in Adult Education. Betsy has been teaching about the issues surrounding Canadian Residential Schools for over 20 years and she has developed the skills to create a safe and welcoming learning space despite its controversial and emotional subject matter. Charlyn has always had a firm commitment to education and sees it as the catalyst for positive change. As such, she saw working in adult education as a way to further her reach into creating positive community change by training the next generation of community support staff. She prides herself on connecting theoretical frameworks to concrete job-related examples, and finding creative and engaging ways to enhance learning. Charlyn enjoys tackling challenges with dynamism, positivity and insight regardless of their nature, while working collaboratively and with purpose. Lynne Rhead (BA, Psych.) worked in community support worker roles for over twenty years; later she became an educational assistant and a youth worker in a local school district. While achieving her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Lynne held adult instructor positions in colleges and nonprofits. What Lynne likes the most about being a Community Support Worker instructor is that it provides an opportunity to empower students with a diverse set of skills that can be used in a wide range of social service positions.
In volunteer and community support worker roles, Lynne has been a leader of a positive change. She served on a refugee task force to sponsor a refugee family, advocated to reduce poverty for First Nation families and youth aging out of care in a large lower mainland city, advocated for quality of life improvements for incarcerated youth serving in a custody center, and taught life skills to people with disabilities to develop independence.

With over six years of direct client and agency-level consulting experience, Justin currently manages the national digital sales and marketing strategy and execution for TELUS Home Solutions. Previously, he has worked at various consulting agencies such as iQuanti, Edelman and DAC, where clients included: CIBC, American Express, the Chicago Tribune, Humana, and HomeEquity Bank.
Outside of work, Justin is settling into his new hometown of Vancouver having moved from Toronto earlier this year. Inspired by the likes of Anthony Bourdain, his favourite thing to do is see new places and eat delicious meals, either cooked at a restaurant or by himself.

I have had the honour of working in the human services field in different capacities for over 30 years, from assisting adults with developmental disabilities to live their lives more fully to working within classroom environments. Teaching has been a natural progression from my passion for helping people reach their potential. In 2001, I began working in the private post-secondary arena, developing programs and instructing students. My career has been centered in the field of special needs. My roles in this field have provided me with experience and insight into the BC school system and the needs of students. I am a lifelong learner and continue to take courses, attend conventions and workshops to continue my professional development so that students always receive the best of me. Paige Leung began her career in applied behaviour analysis as a home-based behaviour interventionist, where she found her passion working with children and their families. She now has a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care and a Master of Arts in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis. Since completing her education, Paige has become a Board Supervised Behavior Analyst (BCBA) where she continues to work in both clinical and private settings. He has over 20 years of experience working with children and adults in the field of special education, community mental health and developmental disabilities.
As an education professional, Todd has conducted and led district-wide professional development for all school staff including events on self-regulation, behaviour plan implementation and behaviour modification of students with complex needs. Todd also has years of experience coaching and educating teachers and administrators on mental health and evidence-based behavioural practices.

Dr. Joëlle Bradford is a Canadian trained naturopathic physician. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver with a Bachelor of Science, specializing in clinical nutrition, followed by a pre-medical clinical internship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Quito, Ecuador. Joelle graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster.
Joëlle lived in Hong Kong from 2012 where she practised at the Integrated Medicine Institute (IMI). She treated acute and chronic health conditions in adults, children and infants; identifying and addressing the root cause of the health concern. She also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and was adept at identifying and addressing the underlying emotional component of illnesses, stress and mood issues.
Joëlle was the clinical supervisor for students from Australia’s Nature Care College and taught the students clinical charting, and supervised their patient visits and treatment plans.

Rav Goodison is a senior consultant providing program and project management services in the BC health care system. Rav was born and raised in the UK, where she graduated from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) with a Bachelor of Science (hons) in Engineering Management, followed by a Master of Science in International Management from the University of Reading (UK). Rav immigrated to Canada in 2003 and further pursued her academics with a Master of Science in Health Information Science from the University of Victoria. Rav is currently a Health Information Science PhD candidate with the University of Victoria, examining project management methodologies that can be used to deliver successful informatics solutions in health care.

Nicolaos has been involved in the home inspection industry for the past decade. Both as an instructor at vocational schools and as a building inspector for residential and municipal buildings. He has also been a licensed contractor and indoor environmental practitioner in Laval, Quebec.
Nicolaos has a specialized BA in Human Environment, a degree that focuses on how geography influences human behaviour and examines the impact of human activity on the environment. This gives him a unique view of construction as he looks at it through a lens of providing creative solutions towards climate change, biodiversity loss, natural resource management and sustainability. Mark Heartt is a Red Seal Carpenter and entrepreneur that has owned and operated a successful construction company for more than 16 years. He has spent the last 16 years in post-secondary coming up through the ranks, starting as an instructor of carpentry and moving up to a Program Chair, Associate Dean and then the Dean of Trades for two post-secondary institutions. Mark also currently holds a Diploma in Adult Education as well as many certificates in leadership.
Outside of teaching, Mark enjoys curling, riding quads, and woodworking. He's also a coach for Special Olympics curling.

Darcy McGregor achieved his Red Seal journeyman’s ticket in 1977. He first worked in commercial construction as a carpenter, then as a Forman but soon gravitated into residential housing and became a superintendent building multi-family and single-family homes. He then ran his own custom home building company and started inspecting them professionally in 1986. He had over 30 years of experience inspecting homes, consulting on homes under construction, forensic investigations, and litigation consulting as an expert witness in residential construction and home inspection before retiring in 2017.
Darcy is also a founding member of the first Home Inspection Association in Alberta (CAHI now APHIS) chartered in 1992 and continues as a retired member remaining active in the board of directors as well as a lecturer and report verification chair. His teaching experience includes over 17 years as a part-time instructor at a technical school. He is excited to continue sharing his knowledge and experience at Ashton College.

Lee Ottewell is the owner of Crest Building Consultancy Ltd. in Victoria. His company undertakes building inspections for both residential and commercial clients, as well as consulting services to government organizations (including BC Housing, VIHA etc.). He is also a volunteer inspector for the Victoria Heritage Foundation. Lee has been inspecting since 1988 and over that period has inspected thousands of buildings.
Lee is a Licenced Home Inspector with Consumer Protection BC, an Accredited Home Inspector with Home Inspectors Association BC, and a former Chartered Building Surveyor with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Having worked in the UK providing inspection services, Lee also provided architectural, project management, facilities management services for commercial clients, including projects for the refurbishment of Grade II listed buildings.
Lee has numerous academic credentials, including an Honours degree in Building Surveying (Inspecting) obtained in the UK in 1988 (in Canada the term “building surveying” is known as “building inspecting”), and a Diploma in Building Studies. Ray Toscani has lived in the Lower Mainland since 1992. He graduated with an architectural degree from the University of Manitoba (1986) and a Masters of Urban Planning (1991), subsequently working for Canada Mortgage and Housing (CMHC) for 10 years, in Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver. Ray acquired further training and became Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF), a Certified Mold Inspector, an air quality sampler as well as an EcoEnergy assessor administering the EcoEnergy and LiveSmart BC programs.
Ray previously owned a HouseMaster home inspection franchise in the Lower Mainland, and later opened his own firm, 1st Choice Inspection Services Ltd. He is an Accredited Home Inspector (AHI) with the Home Inspection Association of BC (HIABC) and licensed in British Columbia with the Consumer Protection Branch.

In addition to applying work-related, industry experience, she uses learner-centred teaching methods such as active, cooperative and inductive learning, as well as a variety of interdisciplinary approaches to engage and encourage students to collaborate. Heidi remains current and relevant by reading professional journals, articles, trade press, and researching ongoing HR topics and concerns. She shares her work and meets with other professionals to discuss ideas and connections, mentors students, and volunteers with her local BC municipal arts council.

Makan Mashhour (“Maken”) is a US immigration attorney and a Canadian immigration consultant at Mashhour and Associates. He provides services in most areas of Canadian and U.S. immigration laws, with a focus on the business immigration side of the law. Maken understands the complexities of the processing bureaucracy of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which allows him to protect his client's legal rights while their immigration status is being processed through the immigration system.

While attending law school, Maken moved to the UK and attended Oxford University as a law student to complete part of his law degree there. He was an Instructor on refugee law for the UBC Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies & Procedures (CILPP) from inception in 2001 to conclusion in 2020. He represents sponsored refugees, refugee sponsoring groups, and Sponsorship Agreement Holders authorized by the Minister to sponsor refugees, at Canadian Migration Offices around the world and the Federal Court of Canada. In his spare time, he is working on TrudeauMania, a musical theatre production about the life and times of Canada’s 15th Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Raj Napal was called to the English Bar in 1981 and practised as a trial lawyer in criminal and civil litigation for 15 years before emigrating to Canada in the mid-90s. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996 when he established NLC lawyers in Peel, Ontario.
Raj is highly skilled in judicial review proceedings and advocacy in all the divisions of the IRB. He is also an experienced criminal and civil litigation lawyer, having won a substantial number of trials in both England and Canada. He has several cases published in the law reports, some of which highlighted important principles of law in his areas of practice.
In 2016, he decided to focus more on teaching and reduced his workload by restricting his practice to criminal and immigration law. Sharon Seidler is a Human Resources Professional and Conflict Resolution Professional with over fifteen years of experience in Human Resources Supports, Organizational Development, Change Management, Training and Development, Employee Engagement, Employee and Labour Relations, and Leadership Development. She is a graduate of the University of Alberta's Human Resources Management Program and Kansas State University's Conflict Resolution Program. Corene Allen graduated from VCC in 1997 with honours and held a tutor position during her studies. She has held many positions throughout different health authorities including wards such as Emergency, Surgical, Medical, Clinical Trials and Ambulatory Care. She currently works as a Nursing Unit Clerk for Interior Health. In 2011, she worked as the lead instructor for a Nursing Unit Clerk Program at another college. She has distinguished results in having the highest successful graduation rate of any program at the college. She also had the privileged of helping develop the curriculum for the course content. She shares her passion for health care through her extensive experience. Her biggest accomplishment is when she sees a student working at the hospital or even having the pleasure of working alongside them. Jim has over 40 years of trade experience in the field and as an instructor and curriculum developer for NAIT, SAIT, Centro Nacional para la Certification Industrial (Cuba), Lanzhou Petroleum Corporation (China), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and Pacific Vocational College. As a field hand, Jim worked as a journeyman, foreman, general foreman, site superintendent and was the owner of a mechanical contracting company. Jim officially retired in 2018, but he still enjoys instructing students online and in-person and works in the field for one or two months of the year. He makes his home in Mexico and Canada.

Junior Ferguson is a Red Seal Journeyman welder, CWB Level 2 Visual Inspector, and small business owner currently living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He started his career at Nova Scotia Community College in 1994. Soon after moved to British Columbia and for 12 years he worked at various shops in the lower mainland near Vancouver, working on a large variety of projects such as Transport, Aviation, Medical, and Military Research and Development.
In 2001 Junior passed his CWB Level 2 Visual Inspectors’ certification and started doing shutdowns as a Quality Control Supervisor on different sites across the country. During this time, he ended up spending a lot of time training and testing welders for ASME Section IX certifications and has provincial welder testing accreditation in Saskatchewan. During this time, he developed a passion for helping others learn and develop their welding skills and knowledge.
He believes that in this, and any other trade if you’re not learning something new each day, you’re not doing it right. You should always expand and pass on your knowledge in the trades. He feels teaching is not just about passing on the knowledge, but learning from the students as well, to get the best results from any interaction whether it be in the classroom or out on the job. His personal hobbies include computers and technology, and building things in the shop with his kids.

Azim Hasmani is a Master Electrician, an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman, and a member of the Electrical Contractors Association. After completing his electrical apprenticeship, he went on to study electronics, microprocessors, and fire alarm systems at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. In 2013, he completed his Certificate in Adult Continuing Education from the University of Alberta, and then he went on to teach the electrical apprenticeship program in Northern Alberta. He brings knowledge of troubleshooting high voltage AC and DC circuits, renewable energy, safety in the workplace, applicable codes, standards, and legislative requirements on trades.

Mark Heartt is a Red Seal Carpenter and entrepreneur that has owned and operated a successful construction company for more than 16 years. He has spent the last 16 years in post-secondary coming up through the ranks, starting as an instructor of carpentry and moving up to a Program Chair, Associate Dean and then the Dean of Trades for two post-secondary institutions. Mark also currently holds a Diploma in Adult Education as well as many certificates in leadership.
Outside of teaching, Mark enjoys curling, riding quads, and woodworking. He's also a coach for Special Olympics curling.

Kevin Soley is a journeyman and Red Seal welder who has been in the welding trade for 26 years. He started his welding apprenticeship at Red Deer College in 1992 and received his Journeyman and Red Seal Status in 1994. Next, he passed his Alberta B- Pressure test and successfully ran his own welding business for 25 years. After acquiring his Red Seal Certification, he has had the privilege of welding all across western Canada.
In 2013, Kevin started a different journey as an instructor in the welding trade. He was fortunate enough to receive an award as “Southern Alberta’s Top Trades Instructor” in 2014. This nomination came from students he had taught over the years. He feels that his success in the teaching field comes from understanding students and being able to present the information in a way that students will understand. He learns as much from his students as he teaches them. He is a tradesperson, just like his students, but with a little more knowledge of the trade.
Personally, his hobbies include being an avid marathon and ultra-marathon runner, as well as hiking the mountains of this awesome country.

Starting early as an automotive apprentice, a hydraulic technician, spending some time in the military/ law enforcement and then, ultimately, to a Red Seal as a millwright. As a millwright, he has worked in manufacturing, sawmills, food production and aerospace building platforms for companies like NASA, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas.
Don brings a strong aptitude for all things mechanical, with a special interest in compressors and turbines. Metal is his preferred medium; Don is also a bladesmith/ metal fabricator.
Safety and high-quality results are the main priorities.

Kelly Nightingale, M.P.Ed., BCBA has worked in the field of applied behaviour analysis since 2012. He attended Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering. He also has many years of dynamic industry exposure. Sai has travelled across the globe to expand his horizons in artificial intelligence and control systems. He obtained his master’s degree from the University of Western Ontario in Automation and Systems Engineering and later joined the robotics industry by launching Canada’s first Automated Grocery Delivery service, Voila.
Sai believes that education should be more practical and experimental than theoretical. He zealously promotes practical, engaging and prototype-oriented learning. He has created various robotics courses designed to ignite a passion for learning and provide vital industry knowledge. With his dynamic experience in STEM education, he hopes to provide future generations with the necessary tools to succeed in a technology-driven society.
Sai recognizes that product development involves strenuous effort from multiple fields of engineering. For example, body design relies on mechanical expertise, circuit boards come from electrical insight and programmed intelligence relies on computer science expertise. Therefore, a base in multiple fields can make you more efficient and productive in your career. Sai argues that robotics is the only field that can provide such diverse knowledge. He considers robotics to be a great career choice for anyone. His advice? Stay hungry for knowledge because necessity is the mother of invention.

Youssef’s skills in mechanical, electrical and software allowed him to work in industries like automotive, manufacturing, unmanned aerial vehicles, and digital communication. He collaborates with professors and industry professionals to design and build robotic systems with the goal of making human lives productive and efficient.

Patricia Ward began her journey into social services at 12 years old after volunteering one summer at a local institution with children that had disabilities. Her education includes a Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work, and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.
For over 30 years, Patricia has worked in a variety of social service positions. She started in the disability field and has worked in education, residential and day services, childcare, and clinical case management. After leaving the disability field, she worked in child protection and mental health. She currently works as a career counsellor with single parents on social assistance.
Patricia has been a college instructor at a private vocational college for over five years and enjoyed it so much that she started working towards her certificate in adult learning. She believes that trained workers are the key to positive change in the social services field. Patricia is starting her own business as a Transformational Trauma-Informed coach helping clients heal through career changes and travel experiences. She heads outside for hiking or paddleboarding in her spare time, and her dream is to travel to as many countries as possible in the next ten years.

Shameela is currently a social worker with the Fraser Health Authority and has worked in clinics dedicated to supporting refugees, HIV+ and survivors of COVID-19. Her professional interests include learning about trauma-informed, arts-based approaches to supporting clients, with a focus on writing as a form of healing.
When supporting clients, she works from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, anti-racist perspective, recognizing and acknowledging that systemic oppressions exist to further marginalize communities. When Shameela is not working or teaching, she enjoys reading YA fiction by BIPOC authors.

Corene Allen graduated from VCC in 1997 with honours and held a tutor position during her studies. She has held many positions throughout different health authorities including wards such as Emergency, Surgical, Medical, Clinical Trials and Ambulatory Care. She currently works as a Nursing Unit Clerk for Interior Health. In 2011, she worked as the lead instructor for a Nursing Unit Clerk Program at another college. She has distinguished results in having the highest successful graduation rate of any program at the college. She also had the privileged of helping develop the curriculum for the course content. She shares her passion for health care through her extensive experience. Her biggest accomplishment is when she sees a student working at the hospital or even having the pleasure of working alongside them. In her working career with Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison outpatient centre, she takes students as a preceptor.
Subina enjoys teaching and it’s been her passion since becoming a unit clerk to pass on her multitasking skills to other students to make them the best of the unit in their careers. Her research focus was examining the effects of stress and teachers in relation to causes, effects and management techniques. She spent the majority of her career as an instructor for a Bachelor of Nursing Degree program as well as an Individualized Study Tutor for Nursing Research. As a Registered Nurse, she has devoted her career and passion to Public Health and Pediatric Nursing in Southern Alberta Health Regions. She continually strives to implement a positive learning environment for students to reach their full potential. The best part of her job as an instructor is helping students to succeed. She feels very privileged to be apart of the Ashton College faculty. Personally, her husband and two daughters are an integral aspect of her life. Daniel Szilagyi is an award-winning, experienced Interface and user experience designer and a member of the registered graphic designers of Canada (RGD). Daniel’s career spans over 10+ years from working in entertainment, mobile and console games to software development with international and national clients such as DND (Department of National Defence of Canada) USA Cycling, Costco, Microsoft & 343i, ADP and many others.
During Daniel’s career, he has worked on TV animation shows such as Johnny Test and Transformers Rescue Bots. This work led him to continue his visual art, art direction, UI and UX skills to work within mobile and console gaming with titles for DeNA studios such as GI Joe and Transformers serving as an art lead and later as a UI artist on Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Microsoft. Certificate in UX Design
Maryam Zarei is a professional multidisciplinary designer and an experienced human-centred design researcher. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Human-Computer Interaction from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on the design and development of interactive systems, integrating visual data analytics into architectural design practices. Her expertise includes User Experience Design for VR/AR/MR technologies, creativity and collaboration, cognitive science, design analytics, and HCI. She has published her research in international venues such as the Springer Computer and Information Science Series and the Association for Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia.
Maryam is currently a Senior XR UX Designer at Aequilibrium Software Inc., where she designs and conducts research on innovative emerging technologies in the Extended Reality field. She is also an experienced design educator involved in teaching and designing several university-level courses on Visual Communication Design, Spatial Design for Game and Animation, and Spatial Thinking and Communicating. Maryam is an award-winning social innovator advocating for women in tech. She is currently the UX/UI Design Lead at the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology, where she contributes to the CX design and research for integrating new technologies into the current organization workflow.
