Skilled Trade Workers CPD Seminar

cpd_logoAshton College is proud to announce that we will be hosting a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar on the topic of Skilled Trade Workers. The CPD seminar will be presented by Vance Langford, LL.B.

Vance Langford is recognized nationally as an expert on Canadian immigration law and policy. He leads a specialized business immigration law practice and is currently Secretary of the National Immigration Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. Vance will be Chair of the Section in 2016-17. In this capacity he is involved in legal submissions, advocacy and direct consultations with the Government of Canada, the Government of Alberta and other stakeholders on the development of immigration law and policy in Canada.

Mr. Langford is a leading author and contributor to publications and legal conferences including the Alberta chapter in “A Practical Guide to Provincial Nominee Programs in Canadian Immigration Law” (Carswell, 2011). He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, National Children’s Law Committee, which deals with the rights of children in national and international law.

Mr. Langford advises and represents public and private sector organizations and individuals in applications for admission to Canada as business visitors, temporary foreign workers, permanent residents and citizens and provides advice on strategies to maintain and expedite progress in immigration status. Vance has successfully represented clients in all types of immigration applications, employer compliance reviews and inspections by Service Canada and immigration and customs appeals.

The seminar will take place at the Best Western Plus Chateau Granville on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Mr. Langford will cover topics including: eligibility work requirements, foreign credential evaluation by provincial regulators, work permit applications, tips for overcoming inadmissibility, the variety of permanent residence programs available to immigrants, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada's new electronic immigration management system Express Entry.

This CPD seminar has been approved for 5.5 CPD hours by Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council and The Law Society of British Columbia. The seminar cost is $240.00 and will be available in-class as well as through an online live-stream.
