Tunde Balogun: “Ashton College is one of the best schools”

Published On: December 20, 2021

We love hearing from our alumni about their educational experiences and personal insights. Our team recently had a chance to connect with alumnus Tunde Balogun, who studied immigration at Ashton College. Read on to find out what he has to say about the supportive online learning environment, friendly class dynamics, and how he personally works to translate theoretical knowledge into concrete business applications.

Can you tell us a little bit about your career and your educational background and how you ended up at Ashton college?

Before I came to Canada, I used to work in a pharmaceutical company, worked as a microbiologist, as well as the quality control analysts for the past 10 years. After coming to Canada, I was open-minded and wanted to try something new, because I've always worked in the lab. I just wanted to explore and try something different. I remember the first time while I was visiting Canada, I did all the travel documents myself. That gave me knowledge about Canada’s immigration system and policies, and I have been asked for help from quite a number of people. It motivated me to want to get into that career. When I got to Canada, it was liberating. While I was trying to look for schools online, I came across Ashton College. Someone reached out to me and gave me some insight into the program. I was interested because of the schedule and that it was available online. It worked for me, because of the time and my work as well. I went into it with passion.

What was your favourite part of the program?

My favourite memory is how friendly the classes were and all the great tips shared to help me succeed. They understood it was new for me and I am learning online as well. It is something you get when you go to school, all the support. It's wonderful.

Was there anything that really surprised you about the learning experience?

What was really surprising to me was the way the faculty used the tools that were made available by the school. It made everything seamless, stress free, convenient and easy.

How would you say your career has progressed since you took the course at Ashton college?

I think it is the knowledge of being able to go to action. The knowledge I have gained has led me to switch to so many things. I am trying to just make sure that I can translate the knowledge I have learned into my company. I am optimistic that something is going to come to fruition. I am also taking my time because I do not want to rush.

What are you reading right now? Any favourite books?

I have books related to immigration law and they are always on my desk. I also love reading motivational books.

What advice would you offer to someone who is considering studying at Ashton college?

For anyone who wants to study as an international student, I definitely encourage them to do so. I think Ashton College is one of the best schools. I had a great experience with the Ashton College admissions team. Whenever I would send a message, I would get a reply within 24 hours, sometimes even immediately. I will definitely refer people and advise them to go to Ashton College. If I need to study anything again, definitely.
