In any industry or job, one of the most valuable things you can do is continue to learn and grow. Upgrading your skills and knowledge not only gives you leverage in moving up in your job position but also broadens your qualifications and opens new doors. In the mental health and support industry, the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) promotes, certifies, and monitors the competency of addiction-specific counsellors in Canada using current and effective practices. Many jobs require you to renew your certification, and continuous learning courses help you attain your hours required for recertification. This helpful blog gives a better understanding of the organization and how to start the process of becoming certified. Ashton College offers many courses that are recognized by the CACCF and offers CEU hours towards getting certified or maintaining your current certification.

What are CEU hours?

The CACCF is backed by clinical research from the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium which provides extensive auditing towards the CACCF every five years, maintaining and furthering the quality of the accreditation and therefore the quality of our courses.

According to the CACCF website’s CEU Information page, Continuing Education Units (CEU) are measured in hours and are for re-certification purposes only. A minimum of 40 CEU hours every two years is needed to maintain the certificates, regardless of the number of certifications you hold.

What courses have CACCF CEU hours?

We offer three courses accredited by the CACCF and include CEU hours, which are all great options whether you are pursuing your continuous learning journey to stay current, or if you are looking to get started in their respective fields.
